Getting a comedy that will appeal to all demographics is always going to be tough but if you can pull in some star power you will always have a chance. That’s what the people behind the new movie “Absolutely Anything” must have been thinking when they put together the cast for the movie because it certainly packs a comedic punch with a distinct British flavor to it.
Featuring the likes of Simon Pegg, Eddie Izzard, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Rob Riggle and Joanna Lumely, as well as the remaining members of Monty Python; “Absolutely Anything” has a great cast that could give us a fantastic movie but only time will tell.
What we do know thus far is that the movie has a certain pedigree that may give it an advantage over other British comedies released this year due in part to it being one of the last movies to feature the work of the legendary Robin Williams. Although the first trailer for Absolutely Anything does what you’d expect from a trailer, basically set up the premise, it also gives us an idea of what kind of comedy we’re gong to get.
Absolutely Anything looks like a mixture of quintessential British humor mixed with science fiction or fantasy a la “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” and that can only be a good thing for movie goers.
The plot to the movie is your usually fare and goes a little something like this;
A group of eccentric aliens confer a human being with the power to do absolutely anything, as an experiment.
Monty Python play the eccentric aliens running the experiment while Pegg plays Neil Clake, the movies hero. Robin Williams, in one of his last roles, lends his voice to the cast by voicing Pegg’s dog Dennis.
So what do we think after seeing the first trailer for Absolutely Anything? Are we looking forward to seeing Pegg work alongside the legendary Monty Python team?
