There is no doubt, Wonder Woman stole the show in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. The San Diego Comic Con trailer for her own movie suggests it wasn’t a fluke!
So far DC Comics and Warner Bros have had a mixed bag of movie releases. Man of Steel was okay, Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice was meh and we still don’t know what Suicide Squad is going to be like. But coming out of San Diego Comic Con we can hazard a guess that the new Wonder Woman movie is going to be, interesting.
As is the case with Superhero movies we’re going to be getting somewhat of an origin story for Wonder Woman. But with a twist as the character has been around for nearly 5,000 or so years.
The commonly held theory suggests the movie kicks during world War 1 with Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor washing up on the shores of Themyscira. His arrival brings Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince / Wonder Woman into our world. We don’t really know that much more but some quick sequences do indicate that Diana is hunting for a greater threat of some sort.
Setting the movie in the past seems to be a great idea by DC. Marvel Studios did this with the first Captain America movie to great success. It also makes sense as both characters are the best battle tacticians in their respective cinematic universes.
The only slight issue lingering around the movie is that Gal Gadot has yet to have to carry a movie on her own. However, the outpouring of fan love from her appearance in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice shows audiences are ready for the release.
