San Diego Comic Con 2016 brought us a first look at the forthcoming DC Cinematic Universe Justice League movie.
Let’s call a spade a spade, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice wasn’t very good. Although the good news for Warner Bros is that audiences and critics have warmed to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Cinematic Edition.
One of the main gripes that many people, us included, had with movie was that it was a little bit too dark and serious for its own good. But like any good first release that didn’t land well, the team behind the franchise are pivoting away from dark and gloomy to supposed humor.
Suicide Squad is the first of the revamped DC movie slate and comes with some rather catchy trailers and engaging marketing.
We already have some idea what Justice League is going to be like with some set visits already having taken place.
Fast forward to San Diego Comic Con and DC have shared a trailer with the Hall H audiences. And the internet straight after.
Although there is still a year to go before we get to see the finished article the trailer did hint at a change of tine for the DC cinematic universe.
Overall tone was of fun and excitement. Batman cuts some jokes as does Barry Allen.
We see a better origin story for the start of the Justice League. This time around we see Bruce meet with Barry Allen (The Flash) & Aquaman (Arthur Curry) in person.
Speaking of Aquaman, Jason Momoa seems like great casting so far as he seems to be bringing a certain swagger to a character know to talk to fish.
Ezra Miller seemed to the personification of the fun and excitement to the cinematic iteration of the Justice League. His back and forth with Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne were excellent.
We got to see early footage of Ray Fisher as Victor Stone / Cyborg . Although he didn’t actually do a lot, the realisation that we’re going to see Cyborg is amazing.
There was some other shots here and there that showcased an underlying sense of levity that you have to hope will be felt throughout the rest of the movie.
Batman and Wonder Woman seem to be making a good team with some witty back and forth banter. And it seems like Gal Gadot is growing into her role as one of the DC cinematic universes lynch pins.
No shots of Superman yet but the most recently released movie poster featuring the team show Henry Cavill front and center.
