From dad bod to red hot bod! We’ve got our first look at David Harbour’s Hellboy
The long in development Hellboy 3, or Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, has been a movie most movie fans have been waiting for since Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. And with so much behind the scenes upheaval, there is some trepidation about what we will be getting. Gone are original Hellboy Ron Perlman and original director Guillermo Del Toro and in their place is new director Neil Marshall and new Hellboy David Harbour.
Hellboy is dead. Long live Hellboy
Following in the footsteps of Ron Perlman as Hellboy was always going to be a difficult challenge for any actor. From his distinct voice to his unique look, the actor stepping into his rather large shoes had to hit the ground running. And from this first look at David Harbour, his take on Hellboy is going to be something uniquely different to what came before.
And now we have our first look at the rebooted right hand of doom. Check that out!

Obviously, Harbour is going to be covered with a lot of prosthetics and using practical effects to bring his version to life but we’re already getting excited. Sure, it’s one a tweet but we have somewhat of a sense of what we might expect.
Gone is the overly bright red tones of Perlman and in its place are darker red tones, and a renewed sense of groundedness, of Marshall’s vision. We also get a sense that this variation is perhaps a Crossfit fan due to the more distinct “cut” body look he’s sporting.
What We Know About Hellboy
According to IMDB, the plot goes something like this.
Hellboy comes to England, where he must defeat Nimue, Merlin’s consort and the Blood Queen. But their battle will bring about the end of the world, a fate he desperately tries to turn away.
Although we don’t know too much else about what we will get come the 2018 release we do a lot about what has been happening behind the scenes. This version of Hellboy has been courting controversy since the reboot was announced. The majority of this has been due to the casting decision being made namely replacing Ron Perlman with David Harbour. But as Stranger Things fans will attest, Sherrif Hopper packs a mean punch.

The controversy returned once again as just last week Ed Skrein made headlines when he left the movie due to the backlash regarding his casting as Major Ben Daimio, primarily an Asian American character from the comic book series. But now Daniel Dae Kim has come on board we can focus once again on what could be the plot of the movie.
The rest of the cast is rounded out by Ian McShane taking over from John Hurt as Professor Bloom. While Milla Jovovich joins the cast as the Blood Queen. If you want to know more about Hellboy’s past with the aforementioned Blood Queen here’s a quick run down from Nerdist.
